Posh Fibers is located in Central Iowa, and is the Web Business for Becky's Quilts & Comforts L.C. 

  We have both worked with fiber and been involved in the craft of quilting for nearly 30 years. (OK, THIS particular picture IS OLDER THAN THAT!)  But we include it to show how we have benefited from many experienced quilters and crafters in our family and community who have handed down this skill from the past .  We are blessed to own quilts and crafts from grandmothers, great-grandmothers AND even Great-Great-Grandmothers!  How cool is that??  (It is also because of this LONG TERM PICTURE that we are convinced to only use the most high quality of products available---you never know how long they may need to last!)

We believe that Quilting and crafting hold many benefits that are worth passing on to others. First, these pursuits are often  very social!  A better time is had by all when we do these things together, and great friendships are often formed.  It is a time away from the rest of life that provides bonding and enjoyment. 

Secondly, it is very gratifying to work with one's hands and have a creative project to show for your time and efforts!  (Not something that always happens in life's other pursuits!) 

Thirdly, it allows self expression!  What better unique and wonderful gift to receive from someone than a hand-made project that they have personally designed and spent time constructing.  (We think it  beats gifts hastily purchased at the store.)  Quilts and crafted projects are always a very special  gift and a way to say, "Peace to you", "Friendship", "I see you" and "I love you". 

We have watched and participated in the growth  and changes from traditional patterns to art quilting , modern design, and combinations of all of these!  They are ALL wonderful and gratifying in their own way. Though design changes and "evolves", ( or sometimes 'recycles'), it is our opinion that the benefits we described above are ALWAYS still  there!

If you have never quilted and don't know how to sew or craft, do not be daunted!  Today there is an absolute plethora of help available, from groups, guilds, many shops, adult ed programs, and instruction books that are all helpful, patient and excited to introduce the beginner to  this skill.  Give it a try!  You will find that quilting and crafting with fabric is a hobby that allows you to go into a creative "zone" of color and design of your own. Who knows?  You may find that you love it as much as we all do!

Becky has taught quilting classes to students from all over the world.   She is currently creating original quilt patterns with the goal of personalization, simplicity, accomplishment and enjoyment for those who use them.
